For this long weekend edition of the OAS Coach’s Toolbox, we are shining a light on a resource that is utilized by coaches across all sports and provinces. The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) and its partners are stewards of nation-wide standards and ethics in coach education and development. They encourage everyone to express themselves in physical activity, regardless of age, gender, or ability.
Their website is jam-packed with tons of coaching information and tips! Every registered coach should have an NCCP number which will give you access to the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) Locker. By clicking on the E-Learning tab in the top menu of your Locker, you unlock a series of resources across different topics. Some of the resources have an associated cost, but others are free for all coaches. Some of our favourite free resources listed on the site include Making Head Way, NCCP Emergency Action Plan and Safe Sport Training. Some resources also offer the additional bonus of receiving Professional Development (PD) points when you complete them.
Want to stay in the loop? Follow the CAC social media accounts to be updated when new resources become available. These accounts are updated regularly and do an amazing job of highlighting resources from other organizations that will help coaches continue to learn.
