Sion Ormond retires from the Senior National Team

After doing an outstanding job representing OAS and CAS throughout her career, Sion Ormond has made the decision to step away from Artistic Swimming.

From Aurora, Ontario, Sion joined the National Team in Montreal in 2018 after a successful domestic career where she was a member of several national championship-winning teams with Aretaic Alliance and Ontario’s Regional Training Centre. At the senior level, Sion was a key member of the Canadian team that won the inaugural FINA World Series Super Final in 2019, as well as the team that finished fourth in the Team Highlight event at the 2019 FINA World Championships in Gwangju.

She will be missed by her teammates who wished to express their best wishes as she embarks on the next stage of her life: “we just wanted to take the time to say a thank you and goodbye to our teammate Sion Ormond. Sion has decided to retire this year and leave the national team. Though we are incredibly sad to see her go we are incredibly grateful for everything Sion gave to our team! We will miss your infectious smile and your amazing attitude that you shared with us every day! We are so excited for you and your next adventure! We will always be here for you and we’ll always be your synchro family.”

Ontario Artistic Swimming echoes the messages from Sion’s teammates and wish her nothing but the best as she pursues new endeavours!
