This past weekend saw the return of its High Performance programs, as the Learn to Train (L2T), Train to Train (T2T) and High Performance Academy kicked off for the 2022-2023 season! These groups were invited to the TPASC training centre on Saturday and Sunday for a weekend of learning, developing, and making new connections led by sport experts.
The L2T, T2T and Academy training groups will come together this season to continue their development and gain valuable training resources. Learn more about these OAS high performance programs below:
Learn to Train (L2T)
The L2T program works to provide an enhanced skill development/training experience for OAS’s youngest athletes, and fosters a better understanding of the athlete pathway which leads to high performance artistic swimming. Athletes have the opportunity to work with top coaches and experts. who provide a tailored 10 & under development program. Past guest experts have included top artistic swimming coaches, current/former Olympians, and national/international experts in complementary disciplines, who have worked with our athletes to enhance physical literacy skills such as flexibility, extension, dance/ballet, mental performance skills, and sport-specific routine and figure skills.
Train to Train (T2T)
The T2T program provides emerging talent identified athletes with an exciting and motivational program that enhances the development of key skills critical to the T2T phase of athlete development. This program supports the growth of talent identified athletes aged 11 and 12 who are entering the podium pathway. Focused on consolidating specific skill sets critical to this T2T phase of development, the program strengthens the base of Ontario athletes moving upwards through the high-performance pathway. This enhanced program is delivered through targeted training that facilitates the development of emerging athletes and connects them with best practices and experts delivering programming upwards in the athlete pathways.
OHPSI High Performance Academy
The OHPSI program was designed to support a comprehensive provincial high performance sport system that allows for sustained success of athletes and coaches at the very highest levels of international sport. The goal of the OHPSI program is to identify and support Ontario athletes who are best capable of achieving future international success on senior national teams in targeted winter and summer Olympic/ Paralympic and Pan/ Para Pan Am Games sports.
The OAS HP Academy provides additional training and support through coaching and sport science expertise that will help selected athletes advance through the CAS High Performance pathway. Through athlete engagement and individualized skill development, the OAS HP Academy is designed to improve performance of our artistic swimmers in Ontario. The OAS HP Academy is the pathway to National Team programming in Ontario, as well as the pathway to Provincial Team programs at the 13-15 and Junior age categories.
